I love how the Howes wrote the book Bunnicula. Having Howard, the dog, be the narrator with his sidekick Chester, the cat was a stroke of genius. Howard is laid back and very kindhearted. He follows what Chester wants and usually finds himself in trouble. Chester is the family cat who is brilliant in his own mind. He is the leader of the two and thinks he rules the family. One evening, the family comes home from the show with a tiny bunny. They name him Bunnicula because they had been to see Dracula and he was a bunny. Ironically, as Chester and Howard find out, the name is very appropriate since Bunnicula is a vampire bunny. They ways Harold and Chester go about trying to save the family from the vampire bunny are absolutely hilarious. This book is great for all ages, although it is written for young children. Adults will enjoy the humor. It didn't work for me as a read-aloud book because one of the scenes in the beginning is so funny to me that I cannot read past it for laughing. Try it when you need a laugh or two.

This is a wonderful book that everyone should read at least once. The price is very inexpensive so I didn’t want to deduct from the rating too much but I found two things annoying when it arrived. First, the ink on the print is sometimes faded throughout the book reflecting poor quality in the printing. Also, the seller put one small and one very large sticker on the back of the book. I assume it is part of their internal inventory process. I purchased this as a gift so the stickers look tacky. I don’t want to pull them off, though, for fear that they will only partially come off. If you’re not worried about impressing anyone with presentation then the price is right on this book.

"Bunnicula" and "Howliday Inn" were the first two books I can remember reading and LOVING. So, now that I'm homeschooling my 6 year old, (who happens to be an exceptional reader) I thought it would be a great idea to assign pages from this book as nightly "homework." He has been laughing out loud and repeating phrases from the book so often, that I decided he should just read it out loud to my husband and I before bed. He is really getting into it, reading it with inflection and personality, and we're all loving it! I see the rest of the series in our near future. Then "Wait Till Helen Comes" when he's a bit older.

I’m ten years old and I love this book so much. I think everyone would like it to. I don’t like to read but Mom didn’t even have to tell me to read. I read like three chapters a day. So I really suggest this book to anyone. I hope you in joy reading this book.

I read the entire Bunnicula series when I was a kid and really liked it; still do. My 9-year-old son, however, loses interest in a book if there isn't something exciting happening at least every other page and so he wasn't really a fan. The Bunnicula series is really more of a cerebral children's series. If your kid is a big reader, this will probably be an excellent addition to his/her library. If not, you may want to look elsewhere. This isn't really the book to get a child hooked into reading if they don't like to do it in the first place. My 1-year-old daughter already likes reading more than her older brother ever did, so I suspect when she gets old enough for these books she will love them. I will save them for her!

Part of my childhood passed onto the next generation :)This series was one of my favorites, funny, cute, and perfect for "big kids" who have outgrown the young kid books but aren't quite ready for the teen fiction section at the library.

A book with a cute bunny vampire, talking animals, and a mystery should be read! In Bunnicula, a family finds a bunny at a Dracula movie, and their two other pets thinks there is something suspicious about him that might harm the family. To find out more, read the book. All the characters include Chester, Harold, and my personal favorite, Bunnicula. The narrator is Harold, and he's a dog. Chester is a cat, and Bunnicula is a vampire bunny. My least favorite part is when Harold finds Chester starving Bunnicula. My favorite part is when Bunnicula gets hit with a steak. Chester is confused. He gets steak and stake mixed up. The reason I gave this book four stars is because it is hilarious, and you are always second guessing yourself because you do not know what is going to happen next. The only thing I didn't like was at times it was a little scary. I recommend it to anyone who wants to read it. It is an awesome book!by Emily

Very, very cute concept. A family with two young boys, a dog, and a cat bring home a bunny they found. The cat - who stays up all night reading books from the family's shelves - quickly discovers that the new bunny is, in fact, a vampire who sneaks into the kitchen at night to drain the veggies of their juice. Trying to get the dog and the rest of the family to believe him is a different matter altogether. My six year old loved this story. If I had to take my best guess, I'd say this is best from the 5-8 age range. I read it out loud to my son (there are illustrations, too...pen and ink drawings), but if he were a year or two older, it would be perfect for him to read himself.
