The graphics in this book are not particularly exciting, but the sentiment is. I bought this as a baby gift for a bilingual couple. Mom speaks English and Spanish and Dad speaks German, English, and Spanish. They were both delighted because they want their child to learn all three languages

There's a girl on YouTube (Jenny) with an entire series on learning German which makes this superfluous if you're and adult.

Cute but simply story, there aren't a lot of bilangual books out there for kids, so I was excited to find this one.

Gifted this for a 2 year old German American boy. The child's German mother told me that she planned on teaching her son both languages so I figured this would be a great book to have for their family. She was very happy to get it

It's bad. There are errors in the book but that's the least of its problems. The story and art are just awful and boring. Don't waste your money.

If you are new to the GMAT and looking for a quicker prep plan, Kaplan Premier is a good book to work with - it provides a good intro to the test (explains the mechanics, basic principles, gets you familiar with the test structure, etc), has solid strategies that you can use regardless of your level, and finally, comes with 5 Adaptive tests. Think of it a starter camera/computer/car/etc - you don't want to start with anything expensive before you know what you are looking for. On the flip side, this book will last you for 3-4 weeks and most likely will only boost your score by 50-75 points. If you want a greater increase (and have 3 months to study, skip this book and pick a bigger caliber package from Manhattan GMAT or Veritas Prep that have a comprehensive overview of everything GMAT-related).~~~ THE GOOD: ~~~* Quite a few practice questions* Solid material with proven Math and Verbal strategies as well as formulas/etc background* 49 pages covering Integrated Reasoning* 6 Full GMAT Tests (5 are in adaptive CAT format on the online and 1 is in a paper format in the book)* Online practice with additional exercises and quizzes - 18 online drills* Much of general info on gmat has been moved into online video format, called Fast Fact Videos; that helps with learning when you have had too much reading for the day* Great value for the money with 6 Full GMAT tests, practice questions, and many online Quizzes* Good amount of coverage for the INTEGRATED REASONING.~~~ THE BAD: ~~~* Errors - I have spotted a few typos and issues with explanations; I suspect there may be a few more* Access to the online components expires after 6 months. This is the only reason to buy a new book vs used* NO CD/DVD - online content only for Tests* Does not have the depth and width a 700+ score requires* 1,100 Pages and 6 LBS! - not a travel size book~~~ OTHER STUDY OPTIONS & BOOKS ~~~Many applicants, bypass Kaplan Premier completely and head straight for the more specialized books such as the Manhattan GMAT Set of 8 Strategy Guides, Fourth Edition OR Complete GMAT Course Set - 15 Book. These book sets come with 8-15 books that are targeting specific Math and Verbal areas. You have a much better chance getting a 700+ with those book sets (not guaranteed) but they also do require at least 2.5-3 months to cover them. The MGMAT Books come with 6 adaptive online tests. Veritas Prep books come with tests as well BUT only if you purchase from their website (Ugh) Finally, a book you should also now about is the The Official Guide for GMAT Review, 13th Edition (more on that is below)~~~ SOME OTHER THOUGHTS: ~~~* What is a good study plan using Kaplan Premier?My recommendation would be to start with this book, finish it in about a month or so (by this time you will learn all the basics about the test, how it works, what is tested, and general strategies for answering questions). Then, you an figure out what's the best use of your time - you may have reached your target score and can stop or perhaps you are really lacking in Quant or Verbal and need a lot more serious practice.* Will this book give me 700+ score?For the majority of applicants, No. It is not deep enough for most people out of college to refresh the math and verbal fundamentals. You will most likely need other books to help you get there.* How do I get 700 then?There are several options:1. Review each section separately using the Kaplan GMAT Math Workbook and Kaplan GMAT Verbal Workbook2. Thorough/Methodical review of each area - If you have a bit more time, grab the Manhattan GMAT Set of 8 Strategy Guides, Fifth Edition OR Complete GMAT Course Set by Veritas - 15 Book. These books are excellent and are actually used in the classroom setting for their classes, so you are definitely get the top books. If you dont need/want the entire collection, see my review for what stand-alone books to get. This plan is likely to get you a higher score with this section but it will also take up more time (about a month more). Decide on the approach based on your starting position, target score, time you have, and willingness to study math and grammar for months without a break.* Any other books I need to know about?YES. There is one - The Official Guide for GMAT Review, 13th Edition. This book is published by the creators of GMAT and contains real GMAT questions. You should also download the Official GMAT Prep software from GMAC's website (it's free).* What if I have trouble getting through this book? Where can I find help?There are several books that can help you get up to speed with quant and grammar:1. For Quantitative section: Manhattan GMAT Foundations of GMAT Math2. I'm a full-time GRE tutor, so I bought this to see if it was a resource I could recommend to my students, who often need to relearn a LOT of math. This book is a solid treatment of the math concepts the GRE tests, as well as a decent overview of the different kinds of questions on the test. But, those with higher than average score goals will need to supplement with other books (and of course everyone should be working with ETS's Official Guide).Things I liked:- covers most of the concepts that can appear on the GRE- each concept has a good number of practice exercises of varying difficulty- the 100 "most important" concepts list at the back is a good checklistThings that could be improved:- the questions are usually too easy - or more importantly, too SIMPLE - the questions on the GRE are usually more creative and complex, especially at the higher score levels- in my opinion, the time management advice only applies to the top 20 percent of scorers- the book seems to have been modeled on the math concepts that the GRE TELLS us the test covers, NOT on actual observation of GRE tests or practice tests. What the GRE says it will test and what it actually does test are sometimes two different things.So what you're getting is coverage of the concepts you'll need to know without getting the difficulty level or complexity of real GRE math questions. This book will help to a degree, but you'll definitely want to use another source of practice material as well. It's a pretty good resource for those who haven't done math in a long time.

I got 99th percentile on my GMAT 750(49, 42) and i used 3 books: this one, Kaplan's Premier Book, and the Verbal Workbook. I had access to PR book and GMAT Prep, but I did only tests from those. I found Kaplan's materials of quality and difficulty. Some whine that Kaplan is too hard, but that's good - if you can handle Kaplan, you can handle the GMAT. Please see the section at the very bottom of the review - I have included a list of my favorite problems from this book - those are the most fun!~~~ PROS: ~~~- Condensed math concept review - straight to the point- No smart-aleck advice about some stupid tricks - only math review - exactly what I needed- Solid problems that illustrate a lot of traps and multiple ways of solving them- Starts with the basics - arithmetic, integers, primes, etc - the stuff that anybody can uses a review of. A lot of applicants underestimate how much they forgot the basics and skim/skip them. I would not do that, and that book does not either.- Finally, the number of questions and quizzes in this book is impressive. I am giving a short summary of some of the sections of the book and number of quizzes and test questions. Quiz questions are math only; Test questions are GMAT-type questions.~~~ CONS: ~~~- No probability or combinations review, which would be very helpful. Get something. I bombed my probability question on the GMAT.- I went through this book at least 3 times (helping others) and I found that solutions don't include some of the most genius ways to handle the problems. I think the authors of the questions went beyond themselves.- Errors (even though this is the 6th edition and it barely changed compared to the 1st and 2nd, there are a few typos and just careless errors - it's a shame)- Not as thorough as the MGMAT guides (those cover more topics in-depth and perhpas a wider area). Also, if you are rusty with math (really rusty), you may want to get the Kaplan Math Foundations or Foundations of GMAT Math by Manhattan GMAT.--- PREVIOUS EDITION ---The changes in the 9th 2015 edition are very minor and you can easily purchase the previous editions (including 8th, and 7th) if the books are cheap enough (often for a fraction of the cost). The books are 99.9% the same with several problematic questions replaced (a few of the advanced questions)Arithmetic-Number operations (15 quiz questions and 15 test questions)-Number properties (15, 19)-Averages (10, 19)-Ratios (10, 24)-Percents (25, 25)-Powers and Roots (12, 17)Algebra-Level One (20, 26)-Level Two (15, 15)Word Problems-Level One (10, 26)-Level Two (37)-Test (40)Geometry-Lines (6, 14)-Triangles (16, 21)-Quadrilaterals (15, 19)-Circles (19, 13)-Multiple Figures (4, 15)-Solids (6, 8)Data Sufficiency-Test 1 (25)-Test 2 (25)~~~ HARD & INTERESTING QUESTIONS ~~~Also, here is the list of the Most Interesting GMAT questions from this book (some are hard and others require an unusual approach) - make sure you can answer every one of them and know how to solve them by heart:Number properties test: 8, 13, 14, 17, 19Averages test: 4, 6Ratios: 22Percents: 4, 7, 8, 22Powers and Roots: 5, 12Algebra test 2: 2, 6Basic Word Problem Exercise (p. 131): 6, 8, 9Word Problems Test 1: 4, 19, 24Percents, Ratios, and Rates: 34General WP Test: 31, 35, 40GeometryTriangles Exercise: 7, 11Triangles Test: 2, 15, 18Quadraliterals and other polygons: 14, 16, 17Circles: 2, 5, 10Multiple Figures: 2, 6, 9, 14Solids: 5DS1: 12, 14, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 22, 24DS2: 3, 7, 9, 10, 15, 21, 23, 24~~~ WHY ONLY 4 STARS? ~~~1. Also, I feel like a few things are out of order. For example, I think it is more important to find the domain name (which is where I am stuck right now) before picking the business name because the typical (or even atypical) names you would give a photography business leave very little do mail possibilities, but the business naming within a state should not be nearly as competitive.There are other steps I have switched around that I cannot remember right now.Overall, very helpful.

Have been wanting to start my own photography business for sometime, and after reading this 34 day success book, I have finally found a way to get my business started and off the ground. The book is very informative, with life lessons on the do's and do nots, and is very practical.Reality, there is no sure way of success in starting ones own business, but, this book gives you the tools and knowledge in plain understanding on how onw should approach photography as a business.Highly recommend. Have started putting some of the practices in place that are suggested and, they have been favorable. With this book in hand, and your own determination, I believe you can succeed in your endevor.

This book has a lot of useful information, and ideas. It is well written and, played out nicely. It starts at the beginning explaining the microscope basics and takes you up to making your own slides. It lets you know everything you will need to use a microtome and explains the media used to get you there. My only problem with the book and, it's not something that would keep me from buying it is, it's out dated. It explains everything based on decades old information. Would be nice to have it wrote with today's information and technology. Would still recommend for the beginner and maybe even intermediate person interested in what the micro world around us looks like!

I purchased this book for my 10-year-old grandson. He’s a smart kid but it was definitely over his head. My husband is a doctor who has had considerable experience with microscopes and he agreed that, while the content of this book is excellent, it’s too advanced for young ones.

This book was recommended as essential reading to accompany The Teaching Company's course "Philosophy of Science". It covered many of the issues presented in the course. The book is an introduction to the current issues. The arguments are well thought out and presented clearly. It appears that there is no 'Look inside' feature so here is a peak at the high level contents1. Science and Pseudoscience2. Rationality, Objectivity, and Values in Science3. The Duhem-Quine thesis and Underdetermination4. Induction, Prediction, and Evidence5. Confirmation and Relevance: Bayesian Approaches6. Models of Explanation7. Laws of Nature8. Intertheoretic Reduction9. Empiricism and Scientific RealismI should also add that the book has an introduction and to each of the above sections. Each section is followed by a commentary of each article therein. Finally, the book has a glossary, name index, and subject index.

Great anthology and survey of significant works in the field of Phil of Sci. This book has inspired me to look into Thomas Kuhn's contributions to the field. Kuhn is a sloppy writer and easy to critique [as this book shows], however, he has some 'revolutionary' ideas [no pun intended] as to the nature of paradigm shift in the scientific community. The book gives bits of other great works from such people as Hemple, Laudan, and even Popper. Highly recommended if you are looking for a survey of works in the field of Philosophy of Science.

The articles I read from this book for my philosophy of science class were fantastic. Authors such as Karl Popper, Thomas Kuhn, Larry Laudan, Pierre Duhem, Arthur Fine, etc. are well worth the read. We did not read all the articles, however, because the book is so comprehensive. This means that it will serve as an excellent reference guide to come back to later. The book also has an attractive text, layout, and a good feel to it.

Used this book for an undergraduate philosophy of science course. The volume contains a large number of extremely seminal papers with an accessibility that ranges from the relatively easy (e.g. Hempel's D-N model) to more difficult works (e.g. Quine's Two Dogmas). As a collection of historically relevant philosophy of science papers, you certainly cannot go wrong with this choice.

Actually, I didn't get this book via Amazon....I ordered, but it turned out that the book had been sold already, so I was able to get it at another online site. The book itself is good - the reading material that is, but the paper this book is printed on is CRAP. It is very thin and you can see the text on the backside through on the front side. UGH! hard to read. Wish it came in hardback.

There are more essays in here than we could fit into one semester, and each one can serve as a month's lesson. It's held up pretty well for the amount of use and abuse I've put into it, but it would be better if it was a hardcover. Even if you're not taking a PH class and you're just curious about the underlying philosophy of the scientific method then this book is for you.

Great rental; interesting book! Took a class that used this as its textbook. I am a chemistry major and thought philosophy of science (an option for a general education class under the critical thinking requirements for graduation) would be an interesting option. If you consider yourself science oriented, this class will challenge your beliefs. Book is worded towards philosophy majors or people that have already attained their degrees.

I’m sucked into the vortex. Confirmation is cheap. Falsifiability doesn’t prove anything. Science isn’t special. The scientific method is a sham. Grue is real. Laudan has a point. Descartes evil deceiver is just an example of underdetermination.

Great read. Very hard to put down. I was hoping for a happy no cliff hanger ending. which I received! I can't wait for book two! Hopefully I can find out what makes a Guardian so special. I love books that the main characters power up a little more in each book through the series. The first book Rosalyn has grown a lot . Very excited to see where this series goes!

I expected a fun book about shifters, I have found a new series to become addicted to. The story of Rosalyn learning of her new abilities and how to move in a world she was previously only on the fringe of makes for a good read and enjoyable tale.

Loved the female protagonist, plenty of spunk, but still very real! I enjoyed her take on shifters and the supernatural community.

This is a great start to this series. Ready to dive into book 2. There were a few places where the wording of a sentence was weird to me, so I had to read the sentence a couple times to get the meaning.

I stayed up till 2am last night reading this book. Literally could not put it down. Already re ordered book 2 and can't wait for it to come out.

I really enjoyed this book. It was a different take on the supernatural than I had seen before. Definitely worth a read.

This book frustrated me. The main character is hung up on the Fae she lives with and she professes to love him and her mind is always on him. But when it comes to a point where he's very upset because she's agreed to become the shadow for the main werewolf she doesn't even ask him what it's about or do research into why her "love" would be upset that she's agreed to that. So then she becomes perma bonded to the main werewolf and starts kicking herself after shequickly agreed! It's really annoying to see that in a main character when you want them to act consistently with their character. Dnf 55%
