This book was a good idea. It helps to explain what it really means to be Muslim, especially in America. But its intentions of bringing support and tolerance to Muslim beliefs and behaviors is undermined by the arguments of the author. Too many remarks are hostile or laced with malice. Too often the author criticized Americans and American policy and how it has affected Muslims. I'm not saying the author is wrong, but this approach is not going to breed sympathy. There's surely a better alternative out there.

Tons of data and numbers and justifications but little or no insights the title suggests. It's pretty aggressive and defensive. I was hoping for something informative and neutral. It is not. If acceptance comes from understanding... find another book.

A Muslim perspective on Western-Muslim relations during the first 8 or so years of the 21st century. We need to hear more like this, even if we might not agree with all of it.

This book is perfect for those who know little about the Muslim world. It is very relevant to today considering the Mosque in New York and the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. I hope everyone that reads this book enjoys it as much as I have.

This is an extraordinary frank and honest look at what it means to be Muslims. It does not dodge hard questions that Muslims face about their religion, nor does it flinch from helping non-Muslims feel the sense of threat that Muslims often feel. It is unfortunate that toward the end the author's defensiveness comes through too much.

This novella packs the punch of a full-length novel. It has all the elements required for a great mystery, romantic fiction, and paranormal story; all rolled into one gripping story.Kris Loomis is a master of her craft. She weaves two storylines together without wasting a word or losing the reader. The characters are incredibly well-developed. The story is written so superbly; you can feel the chill in the air, taste the fear, and hear the baby’s cries. I can not recommend this book enough. Grab a copy today!

Normally it takes me a while to get through a book, but as soon as I started reading this, I couldn't stop! I really felt drawn to the protagonist, Anna, and her internal and external conflicts. This has all the elements of a classic ghost story -- a house in the middle of nowhere, isolation, unexplained phenomena -- but it also tackles compelling issues like alcoholism and not feeling equipped for motherhood that humanizes the protagonist and that many readers will be able to relate to.

Anna quickly realizes that no one will go inside the house she and her family are moving into and when questioned, no one responds. What are those strange noises at night, why is the house so cold and how come baby Preston stops crying when laid in the antique crib? Can Anna make it the fives day until her husband arrives? Loomis does a good job of keeping the reader alert and anxious. This is a terrific one sitting read!

There are so many things I love about this story, and I never thought I'd say that about a ghost story! The story is told from the perspectives of both mothers, each with their own challenges. I enjoyed seeing how they dealt with those challenges to conquer their demons, both real and imagined. Kris did a fantastic job of weaving the past and the present to create an intriguing story.

I've read her short stories before and loved them. This book was no different. It started with a good back story and you think you will know how it ends. Then you get to the ending and are thrown for a loop. It's a great read.

A young mother has to come to terms with the sins and misfortunes of the previous occupants of her new house. This is dark, but with a twist that makes the read worthwhile.

Kris takes you on a journey of two mothers from different times, with one goal, to protect their baby. Kept my attention the whole time. Check it out!
