My 3 year old son just loved this book, the pictures are great, very relevant, and appealing to his age group, and older(visiting 4-6 yr olds have also appreciated this book). They understand the story of good vs evil a little better than he does, but this is an indispensable addition to any S. Asian Hindu who would like to share memories, and create new festival traditions with their children.

The illustrations are authentic and the text is simple. This is a great book to introduce Holi to your class!

This book's virtues are its simple text, interesting facts, and beautiful color photographs. There are just 1 or 2 sentences on each two-page layout, with just a couple of pages displaying as many as 3 sentences. However, with these limited words, the book educates the reader about the Hindu story behind Holi, the celebratory traditions of Holi, and the significance of Holi. I especially recommend this 31-page book for readers age 4-8; however, even adults will learn interesting facts about Holi. I never knew what the colored powder was made of, and I had never heard of Princess Holika until I read this book. I also loved the photographs of typical Indian families smiling, celebrating, and enjoying each other's company.This book would be educational and enjoyable for both Indians and non-Indians, but it does have a couple of minor flaws. One is when the author writes, "Some people visit the temple on Holi." The accompanying photograph shows a kid wearing sneakers, so I doubt he's in a Hindu temple. It's probably some kind of community hall because Hindus never wear shoes in a temple. (However, this flaw is minor because the sneakers are in the background, and you'd have to pay pretty close attention to even notice them).One thing that is slightly more troublesome is the repetition of 4 non-English words throughout the text; the author never indicates which language they're from. I wish the author had added one sentence like, "These words are from Hindi, the national language of India." I think this would have made things clearer for the many non-Indians who assume all Indians speak the same language, and it's called "Indian."Minor flaws aside, I did enjoy this book, and I highly recommend it. I learned a lot and loved looking at the pictures!

I enjoyed reading each and every one of these books. I think there was only one of them that I had read before. Each one had it's own special meaning.

The stories were sometimes Incomplete, leaving the reader wishing for closure.re. Simple stories, sometimes repetitious, were interesting, though very immature. Good for passing time as long as one was willing to settle for a non challenging read.

This was a wonderful collection of short sweet Amish love stories. The only critique might be that many ended rather abruptly or like more should have been forthcoming. This did not, however, take away from the enjoyment.

Enjoyable but predictable little tales. Provide easy and relaxing reading. Had several grammatical errors, though, which were distracting, also a few spelling mistakes. Needs better proofreading.

I enjoyed reading these stories. They are short stories but held my interest very well. A few of them I wished were a little longer to see what happens but was able to imagine the happy endings

About the Author

Sandra Boynton is a beloved American cartoonist, children’s author, songwriter, and highly sporadic short film director. Boynton has written and illustrated sixty children’s books and seven general audience books, including five New York Times bestsellers. More than 70 million of her books have been sold—“mostly to friends and family,” she says. Boynton has also written and produced six albums of unconventional children’s music; three of her albums have been certified Gold (over 500,000 copies sold), and Philadelphia Chickens, nominated for a Grammy, has gone Platinum (over one million copies sold). Boynton has also written and directed eleven short musical films and two animated shorts, including “Tyrannosaurus Funk,” sung by Samuel L. This calendar is a handy size, small enough to go into a tote bag but best on the desk. It comes with stickers to decorate your pages and call out things like doctor appointments and celebrations. The 2019 design has different witty artwork for each week than the 2018 but the same sticker set and tear-out pages for lists and notes. The pockets inside the front and back cover are convenient for keeping track of papers that contain details of appointments or lists of contacts. I find the wide spiral binding provides a great place to tuck a pen.This calendar really is designed for moms with kids with stickers geared toward kid activities like recitals, dance, practice, etc. I've been a Sandra Boynton fan long enough that the kids are grown. I'd love to see a similar calendar to bring joy to those of us coordinating hectic lives sans kids.

Cute illustrations, well made with a pocket and lots of stickers and extra pages for other information that you wouldn't use daily, however....I have four kids and there is no way our activities and schedules would fit on these pages. I don't even think it would be enough room for just my stuff. Way too small.....if you want a little planner that fits in a small purse....this is the one. If you need actual space to write....this is not the family planner for you.

At last I can successfully 'start' my new year. I absolutely rely on this little planner - along with Post-It notes - to survive day to day. It's that irresistible and easy to work with!

What's not to love?! A cute Sandra Boynton drawing every week, good size boxes to write in,good, heavy paper. I love it. I like to have a regular, old school calendar for keeping track of family stuff. While wall calendars are nice, I like to be able to stick this in my purse & bring it to school or doctor meetings. Get a nice pen to go with it & you feel very special. It's just nice to write with pen & paper sometimes. I'd give it a 21 bun salute, if I could, but I don't think Amazon will let me. :-)

My second calendar. Use sticker to mark other items. Send my mother one of the cartoons when i write her a letter. Mom is over 85.

The separate columns for mom / every one else that appear on each day are the perfect solution to keeping track of your own activities and thing you kids / husband have.The cartoons are adorable and the list pages at the back cover everything from school contacts to grocery lists ( with chocolate already appearing on each) to to do list to restaurant contact info. The stickers cover a wide array of activities and are both convenient and fun. I love this planner

Always love Sandra Boyton's mom calendar. Small enough to keep on planning center, format allows plenty of room to write activities and appointments in detail. And the super cute artwork is always cheery.

Love anything Sandra Boynton. The illustrations put a huge smile on my face. The 16 month planner is perfect; I used one for 2018 and just started using the 2019 edition.
