Himari wants a boyfriend and she thinks that Aoto can't be the one, but soon he's all she can think of. The ending of this chapter (such a cliffhanger!) has left me with too many questions. Aoto claims he's no stranger to smexy times and that throws Himari in a tailspin of jealously. I want to know who! Now I have to wait to see what happens after the date from hell. Art is good and it's not boring and it's definitely left me wanting more, so good job there!

But they are just friends, not romantically invo!ved. Aoto's constant presence in her life has made all her peers assume that she and Aoto are a pair, romantically. At the end of the first volume, we begin to wonder if Aoto's constant presence in her life is quite so platonic after all...IEnjoyable. Worth reading.

This book is a great set up, makes me interested in what comes next.A bit of jealousy in this one made it interesting.

It's a cute romantic story with a girl who just wants a boyfriend.Short manga but the length is offset by the price and the fantastic art.

The story was cute, but it felt just a bit rushed, and it was less than 50 pages. For the price, I did enjoy it and am interested in volume 2. The artwork is also really cute!

Very cute, the ending makes you eager for more! I like the progression and art very much. Can't wait for the next one. :)

A must read to understand the economy, in simple terms. I have taken economics in college, and of course, we have all heard bout the 'invisible hand' of the market, and the law of supply and demand, etc. etc., but for most of us, this does not really explain (or make sense, frankly) what is happening. Prof. Varoufakis explains the reality so we can understand the problem, and possibly, know the way to solve the problems that beset us. Ignorance is not bliss; we need real facts and knowledge, and we need to know who the enemy of financial freedom is and how we can get out from under. When we read economics as taught to most of us, we read about how if supply exceeds demand, then the pendulum swings so as to correct this, but what does that mean to real people depending on wages to live and exist in our society? We must understand that ours is a system that is set up to enrich the rich, and extract from the rest of us. Until we understand this and then get it changed we continue to be slaves to our system and those who make the rules.

Despite repeated attempts at self-education, I have remained a financial illiterate my whole adult life. Read any standard economics text and it will discuss supply curves and demand curves as if they were (usually linear) mathematical functions. Fine. Linear functions are easy to understand. The problem is that even these simple ideas don't give a true explanation of the economic world we lived in. Between May 19 and May 20, the demand for automotive fuels didn't really change, but the price will reliably take a jump. The slick, nearly mathematical texts just don't line up to reality---and you can take examples from almost anywhere. This is a clear book that gives a coherent introduction to the qualitative aspects of economics, something that any person could understand---even a financial illiterate. Is everything he says correct? I don't know. That's why I'm illiterate. Certainly it is not complete, but the ideas are coherent and give a reasonable foundation from which to begin to form a better understanding. This guy isn't the pompous idiot that most economists seem to be.

Varoufakis breathes life into the phrase, "if you can't explain something to a child, then you don't really understand it yourself" by turning it from a simple adage into practical application in this unambiguous book about capitalism and economics. His analogies and effort to make the reader understand the content instead of trying to patronizingly exert his knowledge over the reader makes this an engaging and very educational read.

Where was this guy when I was struggling to put my finger on what's wrong with the way economics is taught in U.S. colleges? The author provides fantastic historical perspective and excellent explanations of seemingly complex concepts in everyday language.

This is a great book that outlines how the economy works in pretty clear and simple terms. It was an enjoyable read and was interesting. Obviously, by the title, it was written with a young audience in mind, but anyone who doesn't have a lot knowledge about economics, but is interested in learning about it, would enjoy this book.

Brilliant book. Well written and fun to read which is a veritable accomplishment for a book on economics. Historical, mythological and literary references illuminate beautifully economic principles.

My son has been reading these since he was 8. Loves them. Books 1-4 are totally worth buying.

Pretty good book for my 2nd and 4th grader. The started reading this book series last year and continued reading them. They asked me for the whole set. I would recommend to other moms. I notice though, that as you go up in the series the writing gets smaller, so be mindful of that.

My 9 year old son hates to read ...but he LOVES these and it keeps him reading without complaint. We are already up to book 6. I hope this author keeps writing!

My 10 yo godson dived into the entire Ninja series I sent him with great gusto. His reading ability has been assessed at age 13-14, but he was very taken with the story of a boy his own age. It motivated him to get away from Minecraft video games and into another venue disappearing all too fast: printed ink on paper fueling imagination. Cudos to Emerson for keeping this alive. :)

My son was reading short, none age appropriate books for his home reading. His reading was just to satisfy his assignments for school. His favorite pastime is our Kindle and I remembered when I was a kid and found my first book series so I looked to see what Amazon had to offer. My son loves ninjas and now his reading has greatly improved. At $.99 a book, you can't beat the dividends.

I bought this journal for my highly sensitive grandson. He is often nervous about new experiences and trying new things, and so I thought I would give this a try. He is young, so either myself or his parents help him write what he wants to say and he enjoys picking the scary face that he feels and drawing a picture. It makes him feel good to get his feelings out and it helps us understand him better too!

This has been very helpful for my daughter who is highly sensitive and anxious. The journal is simple and effective in helping children express themselves.

This is a wonderful journal that would be useful for any child experiencing anxiety in their life. A great resource for anyone who works with children of any age. It would be a great tool in a school setting as well.

There really wasn't anything to this. I thought there would have been more insight and direction in this book.

Our SM daughter loves her new journal and is proud to write in it daily. It's fun to read her thoughts about different situations. Journal is well thought out, and very effective!

This has been such a helpful tool for my child to work through her anxiety. It's also helpful to me, as the parent, to be able to really pinpoint the focus of her anxiety. I gave it 4 stars only because I wish it would ask a few pointed questions (such as how the child felt after the event that made them anxious was over) instead of being a completely open format.

This is a wonderful book and a new favorite of mine. I'm interested in sports as part of our cultural landscape and growing up in Sweden this book is right up my alley. The images are so well composed and really shows the soccer fields and game action as foreground objects and how it fits into the environmental landscape.The variety of landscapes, playing surfaces, time of year, light and mood is impressive while remaining consistent. If you appreciate really good landscape photography, and perhaps not soccer per se, I think you will still enjoy this book. I appreciate the photographers investment in time and to his vision as he could have easily and much faster photographed this project when the soccer fields were empty. Focusing on the lower division venues where players are non-professional is also so much more interesting in this era of sports stardom and reality/celebrity culture.

The review`s in the headline really. For me at least, this book gives the lie to the famous Cartier-Bresson comment about the `decisive moment.` I know what H.C's getting at - it's very zen - because reality does ebb and flow, and as with the wind, meaning to can seem to come and go. Still, I would have thought that every moment is decisive to a meaning-sensitive observer. I don't mean that as harshly as it sounds.

Wonderful coffee table book for fans of soccer/football and/or European landscapes.

The reader's challenge is to logically link the content of one sentence to the next. You'd have to live inside the mind of the author for those chapters to be an informative, enjoyable read.Later chapters are better, mixing social commentary with detail on the availability and expanding civilian use of guns in England, Africa, and North America, as well as uses by the military and as slave-trade barter.The Preface proposes that handguns entice persons into fatal violence, even within the family. [But who can honestly argue that antiseptic murder is not facilitated by ready access to the means? Some Second Amendment defenders may be offended, though fewer than a dozen late pages touch upon that issue.] Mysticism returns in the final page of the book with the tale of the widow Winchester's Mystery House, along with a strained historical echo on the role of Cold War arms production in Silicon Valley's technological revolution.

Many of the reviews posted here are clearly from gun rights vigilantes who haven't read the book. Or read the introduction and stopped there. Don't listen to them, this is really an intensive look at how the industrial revolution and gun design/manufacturing converged. Focusing primarily on the UK, figures like Gatlin and Galton loom large, and their stories are fascinating in the context of innovators and businessmen. Unlike the dozen or so books on this topic I have read in the past year, this author faces the philosophic/ethical issues surrounding gun manufacturing, yet still stays clear from the kind of indictment of guns, their makers and owners that the fearful band of gun rights activists imagine this book to be. Some of the chapters slug along like an academic paper... which is fine given that it is meant to be taken seriously in such a forum. But in It is in the moments, where history, gun design and existentialism come together, when the writing is quite brilliant. Highly recommended.

Previous reviews clearly come from American 2nd amendment fanatics who likely have not even read the book. This is in fact a brilliant analysis of the relationship between violence, capitalism, and industrialization in 18th century Britain. Satia uses the Birmingham gun trade as a window onto the emergence of private property relations, notions of bourgeois politeness and individuality, and the connections between state formation and the industrial revolution. This offers a powerful counter to the arguments of Mokyr and others regarding the uniquely English "culture of growth" and technological innovation, demonstrating how advances in the iron industry (essential site for experimentation with steam engines, the coking process, etc.) were driven by a network of public-private partnerships designed to produce matériel for warfare and colonization. The first couple of chapters on gun production are perhaps overly detailed; the payoff for part 1 comes in the stunning chapter 4. Parts 2+3 are truly genius and bring study of the industrial revolution to a new level of insight and sophistication.

I really thought the book was mostly a waste of time. It was well written but buy an Indian who really didn’t understand American gun issues. She tried to relate American issues to those of India and the two are hardly related. Save your time and money.

By Priya Satia, PhD, a Stanford History teacher, the details documented in this book are mind numbing. It is, as a documentary of historical fact, an outstanding, detailed piece of history. Aside from the fact where she starts with one of her own ancestors shooting (and regretfully) and killing a relative, she states her ancestor was changed (corrupted?) by the (hand) gun.The tactics employed by the English Crown to ensure a steady supply of arms for their wars (the violence), was to fragment the (government) contracting. Something being done to this day in all "civilized" countries - USA included.Aside from her discourse on her ancestor being changed by the gun, that is about the end of it in regards to politics. It IS an excellent discourse of the history of British gun making, population control and how gun making grew up concurrently with the industrial revolution, sometimes driving it, sometimes benefitting from it. She gives excellent examples of warfare but seems somewhat puzzled at how the firearm was used (not used) during that period of history she writes about. She does write and hints at the cultural differences between colonists and the Native Americans, concept of property rights and the defense of same even noting hardly justifiable uses of firearms and the complete assumption of power in their use and applications, not always in a just and prudent manner. Kind of like today.As a History book, I give it 5 stars but I have to add it gives new meaning to PhD (piled higher and deeper)As a political book in support of or in derision of the American 2nd Amendment, it is at best a fraction of a star.

I bought this hoping for a factual, historical review of how guns and their manufacture affected England and the New World. Unfortunately, while there are a few interesting parts, the entire book is flavored by the author’s intensive bias against guns and the right to have them. At one point, the book reads like an outline for the Brady campaign, complaining about the NRA and attacking the Supreme Court for ruling that the right to keep and bear arms is an individual right. Not only does this opinionated prejudice poison what might be an otherwise decent book, but she gets legal and factual issues confused in her analysis. I will not go into this, but perhaps the author should read the Federalist Papers, or at least the Heller Supreme Court decision. In any case, I was deeply disappointed in this book. I miss when historical writing was largely non-political.
